The Center for Economic, Legal, and Social Studies (CEDEJ) in Cairo is pleased to announce its fellowship program for the academic year 2026-2027.

Fellowship Opportunities:
– Three 10 month Doctoral Fellowships (September 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027)
– One 12 month CEDEJ Postdoctoral Fellowship (September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026)
– One 12 month CEDEJ-IFAO Postdoctoral Fellowship (September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026)

Research Focus:
CEDEJ doctoral and postdoctoral fellows should be conducting research on modern and contemporary Egypt from humanities or social science perspectives. Please visit our website for details on specific disciplinary areas and research programs.
The CEDEJ-IFAO fellow should be conducting research on 19th-20th century Egypt from humanities or social science perspectives. Both research centers are keen to encourage research in some relevant disciplinary fields such as History, Memory and Archive, Literature and Society, Language and Society.

All fellows are expected to reside in Egypt for the duration of the fellowship, to participate regularly in CEDEJ’s (or CEDEJ & IFAO’s) activities and be fully involved members of the center(s)’ academic community.

Application Requirements:
– Curriculum Vitae
– Cover letter detailing your interest in CEDEJ (or CEDEJ and IFAO), the ways in which you would benefit from its activities, and participate in its academic life. Postdoctoral fellowship candidates should state if they apply for one of the fellowships or both.
– Research project (maximum 2,000 words) including methodology note
– Proof of matriculation in a doctoral programme (for the doctoral fellowship)

يبحث مركز الدراسات والوثائق الاقتصادية والقانونية والاجتماعية (سيداچ) عن منسق/ة لسيمينار الإثنين. سيمينار الإثنين هو سلسلة من الندوات في مختلف مواضيع العلوم الاجتماعية والإنسانية تقام بمعدل مرتين شهرياً بمقر المركز بجاردن سيتي، تُلقى بها المحاضرة باللغة العربية وتتبعها حلقة نقاشية بين المتحدث/ة والحضور. يتطلب تنسيق السيمينار معرفة ممتازة باللغة العربية وإلمام بالحقل الأكاديمي المصري والعربي، حيث يتولى المنسق/ة مسؤولية اختيار المتحدثين والتواصل معهم، كما يقوم بإدارة النقاش.

يتولى المنسق/ة تلك المسؤولية لمدة غير قابلة للتجديد تبدأ في سبتمبر 2025 و تنتهي في يوليو 2026 و خلال هذه الفترة يعد المنسق/ة باحث منتسب للسيداچ، ويتقاضى مقابلاً مادياً عن كل حلقة ينظمها.

الشروط:

• الحصول على ماجستير أو دكتوراه في أحد فروع العلوم الاجتماعية والإنسانية من جامعة مصرية أو أجنبية
• معرفة معمقة بالحقل الأكاديمي المصري الناطق باللغة العربية
• طلاقة تامة في اللغة العربية (الفصحى والعامية)
• خبرة في إدارة النقاشات الأكاديمية
